WELCOME TO

BUFFALO RIDGE SAFARI LODGE

MADIKWE GAME RESERVE – SOUTH AFRICA

Buffalo Ridge Safari Lodge will be closed from 01 October 2025 as we undergo a complete refurbishment of the lodge.
We are excited to announce that the newly reimagined Buffalo Ridge will be ready to welcome guests again from 12 December 2025.

Our transformation will include redesigned guest suites, elevated dining spaces, a refreshed main lodge, and a reimagined boma — all crafted to offer an even more memorable safari experience in the heart of the Madikwe Game Reserve.

We look forward to sharing the next chapter of Buffalo Ridge with you soon.

LUXURY

ACCOMMODATION

The lodge has eight suites, each with its own viewing deck, decorated in natural hues of colour and texture, offering a very private and luxurious experience. The thatched suites, with sliding doors from each room and shower allows our guests to experience a oneness with the bushveld.

AUTHENTIC

EXPERIENCES

A stay in Madikwe Game Reserve is about more than spotting the Big Five. Early mornings begin with game drives across vast plains and rocky hillsides, where elephants wander, wild dogs move in packs, and birdlife thrives. Evenings bring a different kind of magic as lantern-lit bomas and open decks create the perfect setting for memorable dining.

From intimate dinners under the stars to shared meals that highlight local flavors and community heritage, every experience feels connected to the land.

Here, adventure and relaxation flow together. The thrill of discovery on safari, the quiet of nature at rest, and the warmth of gathering around the table combine to create lasting memories that are as authentic as Madikwe itself.

ABOUT

MADIKWE GAME RESERVE

Buffalo Ridge Safari Lodge operates within the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve. This highly-acclaimed conservation area lies within South Africa’s North West Province, close to the Botswana border, and is twenty kilometres from Gaborone.

Geographically, enormous volcanic intrusions known as Inselbergs are prominent throughout the area and create a spectacular backdrop to the Reserve. The Dwarsberg Mountains lie to the south and the Marico River to the east.

The area is a transitional region between lowveld bushveld and the Kalahari thornveld. Consequently, these varying habitats from open plain grasslands, to woodlands, rocky outcrops and seasonal wetlands host an incredible diversity of fauna and flora including the Big 5 and numerous other wildlife and bird species that thrive and survive within the reserve.
